What is NJMLS?
Definition of an MLS
A Multiple Listing Service (MLS) is a set of business behaviors between competitors.
It implies offers of compensation and cooperation and enforcement of ethical standards among participants/competitors.
The MLS database was designed to assist in the cooperation leading to the sale and the ultimate compensation.
A key characteristic of the MLS is the ability to collect and maintain the real estate data with accuracy and timeliness.
It is this characteristic that makes MLS valuable to the participants and their clients and customers.
The NJMLS
Since 1977, the New Jersey Multiple Listing Service has been providing the organizational
structure, policies, and systems needed for the cooperative sale of real estate among its REALTORŪ members.
Under the direction of Executive Director Tina Griffin, the NJMLS strives to benefit its members, as well as the public
they serve, with the most extensive, accurate, and up-to-date information on properties for sale in the Bergen, Passaic,
Essex and Hudson county areas. To achieve this goal our focus is to provide the most advanced systems using the latest
in computer technology and Internet advancements.
The NJMLS is owned and operated by the Eastern Bergen County Board of REALTORSŪ and RealSource Association of REALTORSŪ.
As a REALTORŪ owned MLS, the NJMLS adheres to guidelines recommended by the National Association of REALTORSŪ and
guarantees that every member receive an EQUAL REPRESENTATION IN ITS GOVERNANCE. Through this governance structure,
REALTORŪ members have built the NJMLS into one of the most successful MLS's in the state of NJ.
